About Magari Domani

I knew when I had looked for a long time that I had hardly begun to see.

The eye sees what it didn’t see before  or sees in a new way what it had already seen.

So the ear and the other senses.”   - NAN SHEPHERD, THE LIVING MOUNTAIN

A Slower and Simpler Lane

When we first stood amongst the fallen ochre-coloured stone and ruins of the Marchigiano farmhouse that is now Magari Domani we were instantly overwhelmed by a sense of I-don’t-care-if-I-never-go-anywhere-else-again.

The place filled us completely, and still does, with a sense for the value of a life lived in a far slower and simpler lane. A sense of place that questioned our priorities. Imbued us with a sense for things lost or forgotten. That whilst we stood in a region and a country where there was so much to see, touch, taste, hear and “do" that our senses needed none of it because they were already sated by this place.

Perhaps Tomorrow

It was the beguiling sense of place that caused us to become so unaware of time, that hours and days would simply evaporate and yet we had not ventured any where, and in stead only heard ourselves saying “perhaps tomorrow”.  When translated into Italian “perhaps tomorrow” becomes “magari domani”.

Perhaps tomorrow we’ll visit Castello Di Gradara, Dante’s inspiration for the lovers in his Divine Comedy. Perhaps tomorrow we’ll grab lunch at Da Gustin in Bargni di Serrungarina or Le Logge in Urbisalglia. Perhaps tomorrow we’ll attend that evening concert at the Arena Sferisterio in Macerata, or La Quintana Festival in Ascoli Piceno, or walk the Val di Bove…….perhaps tomorrow.

Villa Facilities

The Bedrooms & Bathrooms

This pretty self-catering villa boasts three king sized bedrooms on the first floor. The first of which looks south out over the garden, its replanted olive grove and the swimming pool and has an ensuite bathroom and large built-in cupboards. The second bedroom looks across the garden and driveway to the west. It contains a large day bed that can be used for an additional guest or for nothing more then yet another place to read a book or perch a board game. The third bedroom also has a westward aspect across the garden and the driveway. The second and third bedrooms share a very large bathroom with a double shower, twin sinks and a bath. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor where it also doubles as a study, TV and games room when guest numbers permit. It is equipped with a queen-sized sofabed. Across the corridor from the fourth bedroom is another generous bathroom with a double shower.

The Living Area

The spacious living area is centered around a large fireplace with three comfortable sofas perfectly placed to enjoy the views into the garden, the terrace, and beyond. Two-sets of French doors, one opening onto the “morning" terrace that benefits from the first rays of the sun as it rises and is perfect for that first coffee and breakfast, and one set of doors that opens onto the loggia and the garden to the front.

The Kitchen & Dining Room

A large contemporary kitchen connects the living room and dining room and contains a full suite of modern appliances to ensure that Magari Domani is ready to deliver on that home away from home experience. Its own set of French doors make for an easy passage of prepared food from kitchen to the family table under the loggia. A dining room with its own fire place connects to the kitchen. So should you seek the opportunity to host a more formal supper or the weather pushes you inside then comfortable dining for you and the other guests awaits.

Entertainment

With a large flat-screen TV in the living room and in the fourth bedroom / study, with DVD players, X-Box and Wii game systems and video games, board games, speaker docking stations, and a vast collection DVDs and books; there is plenty to keep you, or our younger guests, occupied when not pursuing the opportunities outside.

Utility Room

A utility room on the ground floor is fully equipped with suite of laundry and household cleaning appliances. On the first floor is a walk-in bed linen and towel cupboard.

The Grounds

Outside are thirty acres of grounds. A terracotta tiled terrace and swimming pool. To the rear of the property is a store that contains garden equipment and teak furniture for pool-side lounging and loggia / garden seating.

Guest Reviews

An awesome couple of weeks!

Our third time here and our stay was just as good this time around! We had an awesome couple of weeks. We did venture further afield this time and loved our long day in Urbino - what a place. Of course, for the majority of the time we simply moved the short distances between the house, its loggia and the pool….it was blissfully exhausting doing absolutely nothing and this is such a great place to indulge like that. Thanks again!
